Father’s Day is this Sunday, June 18th, 2023! Here’s just a few ideas on how to celebrate Dad on Amelia Island!

1) BOATS!

There are lots of great ways to get dad on a boat- for fishing or for cruising! There are several great charter boat companies on and around Amelia Island. Amelia Angler Outfitters & Charter Fishing is a great way to charter a boat for a variety of adventures, including fishing, sailing, sightseeing and even fly fishing and casting lessons!

Another great options is Amelia Adventures for private charter boat tours, tours of Amelia & Cumberland Island, paddle boarding, and more!

For dads and families that love to kayak, check out Amelia Island Kayak Excursions for a variety of tours around Amelia Island’s rivers, creeks, and all the way to Cumberland Island!

2) GOLF!

Some dads just love being out on the green! Fernandina Beach Golf Club, is a great option that offers non-member tee times, but booking is still required. For convenience, you can book online!

3) FOOD!

After a long day on the water or in the sun, dad will definitely be hungry! Treat him to something special. Although Amelia Island is known for fantastic seafood, we also have a lot of restaurants with other specialties. A great option for Father’s Day is Bob’s Steak & Chop House that serves classic cuts of steak and chops with delicious sides.

Burlingame Restaurant is another great option with a unique menu,, but we recommend the steak, oysters, Charcuterie, and cocktails!

These are just a few suggestions, but of course there are many amazing adventures and cuisines for everyone to enjoy on Amelia Island- we’re sure you’ll find a very special way to celebrate Father’s Day on our beautiful island!

4) CHILL!

We also love the dads who just want to relax for Father’s Day, and that’s where Sea Cottages of Amelia comes in- we’re 1 mile from a drive-up beach, so if dad just wants to go a short way from the hotel to enjoy the beach with a sturdy cooler, that’s okay with us!

We are honored to be mentioned in Coleman Concierge’s blog post entitled “Concierge Guide to Northeast Florida’s Bike Trails and Cycling Routes” Ed and Jenn Coleman are travel and outdoor enthusiasts with a popular blog documenting their adventures and making helpful guides for other travelers. Here’s what they have to say about us:

“While researching this guide, we took a couple of days to explore Amelia Island. We stayed at the Sea Cottages of Amelia, a comfortable midrange option with all of the conveniences of a studio apartment. They are very bike friendly because you can park (and lock) your bikes onto your private patio.”

We encourage any guests with a passion for cycling to read through their blog post for some fantastic information about local trails, including detailed maps, exact route distances, and other recommendations about Amelia Island and Northeast Florida.

Thank you, Ed and Jenn for your visit! We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay!

We especially love this quote: “We’re different from a hotel,” said Office Manager Betsy Reese. “It’s a comfy feeling, private, and we are close to the beach. And we are pet friendly.”

Designated by the Florida Green Lodging Program

16Aug

The Sea Cottages of Amelia just earned a Designation from the Florida Green Lodging Program!

Launched in 2004, the Florida Green Lodging Program is an initiative of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) that designates and recognizes lodging facilities that make a voluntary commitment to conserve and protect Florida’s natural resources. The program’s environmental guidelines enable the hospitality industry to evaluate operations, set goals and take specific actions to continuously improve environmental performance.

The Sea Cottages were assessed and our score met the criteria for a One Palm designation. We will strive to earn even more Palms (bettering our score) by further committing to efforts to make the Sea Cottages as environmentally friendly as they can be by focusing on:

  1. Communication and education (customers, employees, public).
  2. Waste reduction, reuse and recycling.
  3. Water conservation.
  4. Energy efficiency.
  5. Indoor air quality

Thank you to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection!
